This is the finest particle available for filling dirt, great for many new construction and home renovation projects.
PRO TIP: Fill dirt consisting of a mixture of broken-down rocks, sand, and clay. It contains little fertility for plants to grow or any organic matter. There are still many reasons you would want to select fill dirt for your project. Topsoil contains organic matter and is likely to shift or settle over time. If you are looking for filler, then fill dirt will provide a more stable material.
Finish the ‘look’ and grade of your new project or quickly bring nutrients to newly installed grasses/plants with this rich top soil.
PRO TIP: True topsoil is found in native soil. It is the top layer of soil, which can be 4 to 12 inches in depth. The texture and compilation of materials may vary. However, topsoils that are more loamy (than clay or sand based) are often best because they are rich in organic matter that holds not only moisture, but also an entire ecosystem of beneficial microbial life that contribute nutrients for healthy plant growth.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Topsoil purchased at All Seasons Suppy and can be an economical way to amend your garden bed and lawn. There are different types of topsoil, so be sure you pick the one best suited for your project. Good topsoil contains the necessary nutrients for your plants to survive. It can help protect plants and seedlings, as well as correct soil issues like improper pH levels (if the purchased topsoil contains certain ingredients that can help, like limestone).
Top of the line compost makes for great raising plants, nutrient dense crops and has a host of other applications.
Pro Tip: Composting is the natural process of recycling organic matter, such as leaves and food scraps, into a valuable fertilizer that can enrich soil and plants. Anything that grows decomposes eventually; composting simply speeds up the process by providing an ideal environment for bacteria, fungi, and other decomposing organisms (such as worms, sowbugs, and nematodes) to do their work.
This smooth white creek stone pea gravel is great application for walkways, driveways and parking areas.
PRO TIP: Because of its size, texture, and color, pea grave is typically used for more above-ground projects and applications. Many home and building owners opt to use pea gravel to accent gardens or flower beds. The different color options allow pea gravel to complement the landscaping or to stand out from the foliage. Since it has a smooth finish, pea gravel is also regularly used for walkways, dog runs, playgrounds, patios, and a variety of other high-traffic areas.
This locally farmed smooth creek stone pea gravel is great application for walkways, driveways and parking areas due to its larger size and texture.
PRO TIP: Pea gravel is small, rounded pebbles. Also referred to as pea stone or pea pebbles, each little rock of pea gravel is just a bit bigger than a pea (think green frozen peas). Pea gravel perhaps looks more like really large peas, like edamame or something of that size. The colour of the pea gravel depends on the colour(s) of the parent rock material.
WHAT IS IT USED FOR? Pea gravel is used in landscaping as a hardscaping surface material for well-travelled areas like patios, walkways, and playgrounds. It can also be used as a decorative mulch around plants or structures like raised beds.
